ماتسوئی “ Shokei (Akiyoshi) Matsui” در ۱۵ ژانویه ۱۹۶۳ در ژاپن به دنیا آمد در سن ۱۳ سالگی شروع به فراگیری کاراته نمود. در سال ۱۹۷۶ به باشگاه Kita Nagare-Yama پیوست و در مدت کمی موفق به دریافت کمربند مشکی شد.در دوزادهمین دوره مسابقات آزاد کاراته ژاپن در سال ۱۹۸۰ به مقام چهارم و در سال های ۱۹۸۱ و ۱۹۸۲ در همین مسابقات به مقام سوم رسید و در سال ۱۹۸۳ در جایگاه هشتم قرار گرفت.
در مسابقات آزاد جهانی کاراته در سال ۱۹۸۴ به مفام سوم نائل شد و در سال ۱۹۸۵ و ۱۹۸۶ در مسابقات آزاد ژاپن به مقام قهرمانی دست یافت. در سال ۱۹۸۶ ﻣﺒﺎرزه ۱۰۰ ﻧﻔﺮه “۱۰۰Man Kumite” را با موفقیت به پایان رساند و در ژاپن به لقب “نبوغ بی نظیر (unparalleled genius)” شهرت یافت. در مسابقات جهانی سال ۱۹۸۷به مقام قهرمانی رسید.
در ماه مه سال ۱۹۹۲، ماتسوئی مدرسه خود را در Asakusa، توکیو باز کرد و توسط سوسای ماسوتاتسو اویاما به ریاست آن منصوب شد.
در ۲۶ آوریل سال ۱۹۹۴،متاسفانه بنیانگذار سوسای ماسوتاتسو اویاما چشم از دیده جهان گشود و ﮐﺎﻧﭽﻮ ﻣﺎﺗﺴﻮﺋﯽ رﺳﻤﺎً ﺑه ﻋﻨﻮان رﺋﯿﺲ ﺳﺎزﻣﺎن جهانی ﮐﯿﻮﮐﻮﺷﯿﻦ ﮐﺎراﺗه ﺑﺮﮔﺰﯾﺪه شد.
در حال حاضر، مقرسازمان بین المللی کاراته با بیش از ۱۲ میلیون عضو در۱۲۵ کشور جهان در ژاپن قرار دارد. کانچو ماتسوئی با سفر به کشورها، در سراسر جهان برای آموزش و گسترش روح ، فرهنگ و راه و منش کیوکوشین در تلاش است.
